Meet The Team

Founder & Chairman
Jordan Atkinson
I started Snakes United FC back in 2019 as a casual kickabout with the lads—a way to stay fit, have a laugh, and stay connected. Fast forward six years, and we’ve grown into a successful charity football team. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built together.
Helping others is something I strive for in both my personal and professional life. I’m incredibly grateful for how far Snakes has come—it’s given me the chance to stay close to my mates, meet new people, and raise money for great causes, all while playing the sport we love.
And here’s a fun (and slightly painful) fact: a hilariously embarrassing video of me went viral on TikTok… and somehow racked up 100 million views. Fame, eh?

I just wanted to take this time to say a few words about Snakes and what we have achieved in such a short time. I think everyone involved can agree that we knew it would be a good thing to do, but no one would have expected it to have taken off as it has done. 12 games played, all on a variety of great pitches, Ilkeston town, Arnold Towns first teams pitch etc, we've had our games photographed and recorded which is really nice to look back on, and we've shared the pitch with Sands United FC, which is a privilege when you understand what they stand for. But one thing that is truly amazing is the £2,500 we've raised this year for the nominated charities. This is a massive achievement from a group of local footballers, and we all should be so proud!
A big thanks to our sponsor at FHP for getting us started with a kit, and last but not least, a massive thank you to Jordan and his hard work. People have dreams and very few make them happen, and Jordan is living proof that you can change the world one game at a time. Lets keep our cummunity growing! Up the Snakes!

Playing for Snakes United FC isn’t just about football—it’s about friendship, purpose, and a whole lot of laughs. I’m Callum, and while I’ll play anywhere on the pitch (except in goal—trust me, nobody wants that), what I lack in silky skills I try to make up for with pure commitment and heart.
I helped start Snakes United to help raise money for charity, because football is a powerful way to bring people together and make a real difference. It’s about building a team that’s more than just a squad—it’s a community. We’re here to support each other and help others too.
There’s nothing better than turning up on a Sunday, lacing up the boots, and knowing you’re part of something bigger than yourself.

Over the past 10 years I’ve had the privilege of playing football with Jordan and a lot of the lads in this group Having started out playing together when we were 16-17 years old playing for Nottinghamshire FC in the NSL.
After 2 seasons at Notts I moved to Liverpool to play for The Jamie Carragher academy to coach and play football. Whilst there I was able to do some work for the 23 foundation, learning skills and ideas I’ve been fortunate to be able to bring to Snakes United.
Raising money is the primary goal for us however being able to do this with friends, family and ex team mates it’s an extremely rewarding bonus. I’m excited to see how far this team can go and what we can achieve together.
Up the Snakes!!!
Fun Fact: I’ve played against Jamie Carragher in a 5 a side match and skinned him!!

I’m 23 years old and a proud Notts County fan. I’ve been part of Snakes United since the very beginning in 2019, when it all started as a 7-a-side kickabout with the lads.
After Covid, football took a bit of a backseat for me due to work commitments, but when the chance to play 11-a-side came up—and it wasn’t every week—I couldn’t say no.
Now, I’m proud to be part of the club’s committee, helping shape a team I’ve been around since I was 16. It’s been an amazing journey watching Snakes grow from a casual kickabout into something much bigger.
Fun fact: I own an Audi… so technically, I bring pace off the pitch too.

I am an accountant with a keen eye for detail, navigating the world of numbers with precision and care. When I’m not balancing ledgers, you’ll find me cheering on Nottingham Forest FC.
Outside of work, I'm a proud father to a little boy, finding joy in every moment with my family. Whether it’s analysing finance or celebrating a Forest win. I bring dedication and enthusiasm to everything I do.

I am an avid lover of football & gaming - primarily football though of course! I have played football and gamed since a kid. If I'm not doing one, you can be assured I'm doing the other.. Unless the Mrs made a plan I definitely should have paid more attention to.
I got to know Jordy and a lot of the Snakes lads through our old football club - Nottinghamshire FC and back when we used to play 7 a side on a Monday night. So to look at where we are now is amazing to see and be a part of.
I love the community that Jordy and the lads have helped build with Snakes. They use a much loved sport to help charities raise funds, as well as keep the lads health, wellbeing and friendships in top form. More than enough of an excuse to get outside; kick a ball around, socialise and have a laugh if you ask me!
Fun fact about me: I can make a clown horn noise... Please don't ask me to do it

Marcus Nevers, 39 year old teacher - former decent footballer. Snakes FC is enjoyable to a part of as it’s a chance to play low-stakes, charity football amongst like-minded people. The team is well organised and there is a warm feeling around the club.
Once upon a time, my drunken antics were broadcast, in a foreign country, live to over a million people. Not a great moment.
That’s probably too much for a website bio!

Several injury and health issues led to me no longer feeling able to contribute towards a weekly 11-a-side team.
When moving to Nottingham, it started off as fitness with the Monday nights and turned into a desire to be competitive, where I hoped Jord would set up a team. Couple of good seasons doing 6’s and now progressed into something even bigger and better.

Football and helping others, if I can, are my main interests — that’s exactly why I joined Snakes United FC. The club does so much great work in the community, raising money and awareness for different causes and supporting people who need it most. It’s not just about football here; it’s about making a difference while doing something we love.
Being part of Snakes United is special — you get to play the game with a great bunch of lads, have a laugh, and know that everything we do helps others less fortunate. There’s a real sense of pride in wearing the shirt, both on and off the pitch.
Funniest Football Moment:
Has to be when Jordy took a dizzy peno and ended up flat on his back 🙌🏻 Still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen — the lads haven’t let him forget it!

Football is something I’ve always been passionate about and involved in but whilst working a full time job plus coaching at Notts County FC, I’m unable to commit to a weekly footie side. Snakes United is perfect for me to still enjoy playing football and doing it for a brilliant cause as well.

I’m the keeper for Snakes United, and I love being part of the club for all the good we do — on and off the pitch. It’s a proper good bunch of lads, and there’s never a dull moment with this team. Being involved with a group that actually cares and has a laugh while doing it is what it’s all about for me.
Funniest Football Moment:
Has to be when I got sent off for kegging the ref in a summer tournament final… before kick-off! Still don’t know how I managed that one, but it’s definitely a story that won’t be forgotten any time soon.

I started playing football when from when I was about 5 and played on in Sunday league and 6-a-side until I was 30 or so.
Then, when Covid hit, I just naturally stopped playing. My legs were going, I was starting a family, my career was changing, so something had to give.
I thought I was done with the game until, five years later, I met Jordan when he was a ringer for my work's team at a one off six-a-side tournament.
After shamelessly promoting Snakes to me in between games, he asked if I'd be interested in playing for his six a side team, which then led on to playing for the Snakes 11s.
So now I'm back in the game, with less pace and less hair, but glad to be playing for a team that raises money for good causes and with a schedule that doesn't get me in too much trouble with my wife! Fun fact - despite not even playing golf, I'm somehow the best golfer on the team.

I’m really proud to be part of Snake United! The people on the team are so friendly and supportive, and what makes it even more special is how much they do for charity.
The money we raise helps change people’s lives, and it feels amazing to be part of something that makes a real difference.

I’ve always been involved with football in some way from a kid to now watching or playing. When you get offered to play the game you love on a regular basis and help out incredible causes you sign up immediately. I haven’t been with Snakes for as long as some of the other lads but we’ve really created a culture of brotherhood here. We are all characters and it does really feel like a family here.
Although some of us are only players, I can’t speak for the other lads but I really feel that we have helped to build this and we are only ever going to keep growing. I’ve been involved in quite a few charity football teams and very few have vision like Jordy for Snakes and he is executing that vision and I for one couldn’t be more grateful for putting my name down that one week he was short of players so that I am now a part of this incredible team.

6'2" Winger that loves the ball to feet, can play with both feet. The reason that I love Snakes United is cause I love the drive that the team has. I wear the number 11 after my idol Didier Drogba. My funniest moment since being at Snakes is probably watching my brother miss a penalty after coming out of goal to take it, and then I went on to score a hat-trick in the same game.

I’ve been involved with Snakes United FC since long before we became the charity team we are today—even back in the good old days of 7‑a‑side. I’ve been best mates with Jordy, our founder, since we were kids, so being part of this journey from the start means a lot to me.
I’m incredibly proud to be playing the sport I love while helping raise money for causes that really matter. One of my proudest moments with Snakes United was nominating Macmillan Cancer Support in honour of my mum and the amazing support they gave us. As a team, we managed to raise £1,717, which is something I’ll always hold close to my heart.
Being part of this club isn’t just about football—it’s about friendship, community, and making a difference together.

I’ve been playing football since I could walk and enjoy playing at every opportunity. With the Snakes it’s much more than playing, being able to help raise money for great causes while playing the game you love with an amazing group of people feels like a blessing every time I step on the pitch.
Jordy and the team are stellar examples of the spirit that runs through the team and win, lose or draw everyone leaves happy knowing we have helped make a difference.
Also my Instagram has never looked so good!

I originally joined Snakes United FC for the football, but I stayed for everything else that comes with it. Being able to pull on the boots, have a laugh with a great group of lads, and know that it’s all for a good cause makes it pretty special. I’ve lived locally all my life, so supporting the community and helping charities that actually make a difference is something I’m proud to be part of.
Football’s always been in my blood, so playing the game I love while contributing to something bigger than myself just feels right. Snakes United FC proves you don’t have to choose between enjoying football and doing good — you can do both. Huge thanks to Jordy for setting the whole thing up and getting me involved. What started as “just a game” has turned into something I genuinely look forward to, and I’m buzzing to be part of a team that’s making a real impact (even if I’m not always making an impact on the pitch).

Growing up locally, the community has always meant a lot to me. I’ve been a local lad my whole life, and giving back to the area and the people around me is something I genuinely care about. Being part of Snakes United FC allows me to support causes close to home, help charities that make a real difference, and contribute to something bigger than just football. Knowing that every game played and every goal scored helps people in need makes it incredibly rewarding.
Football has always been a huge part of my life, and Snakes United FC gives me the chance to keep playing the sport I love for a higher purpose. It’s not just about turning up on a matchday — it’s about unity, friendship, and making a positive impact together. I’m incredibly grateful to Jordy for setting this club up and for including me from the start. What he’s built is special, and I’m proud to pull on the shirt, represent the club, and play my part in something that genuinely changes lives.

Snakes United FC part timer due to commitments, but loves it when he's down. Jord was at our second ever game scoring an amazing free kick, since then he's been involved with many great games including our Snakes v Snakes game, where he was in Jordan A's pocket...

I’ve been in and out of football since I was a boy, and playing for Snakes United has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It’s not just about the game; it’s about the impact we make through charity work and the bond we share as teammates. Every match, every event, and every initiative we do together brings us closer, not just as players but as a team dedicated to giving back. I’m proud to be part of this squad, where the passion for football is matched only by the desire to help others.
Also, Jordy is a legend.
